Hearing Scheduled for Defamation Case Against Rahul Gandhi on May 27
The defamation case filed against Rahul Gandhi by BJP leader Vijay Mishra six years ago is set for a hearing on May 27 after the appointment of a new judge to the special court. The case revolves around alleged objectionable remarks made by Gandhi targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the Karnataka elections in May 2018.
Last December, a warrant was issued against Rahul Gandhi, leading him to halt his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Amethi and appear in court on February 20, where he was granted bail. The complaint specifically refers to Gandhi’s comment accusing the BJP of having a party president who is an “accused” in a murder case, pertaining to Amit Shah.
