Hoax Bomb Threats Rattle Chennai Schools

Thirteen private schools in Greater Chennai Police limits were targeted with bomb threat emails, causing panic among parents and school authorities. The emails received around 10 a.m. on Thursday, claimed that powerful bombs had been planted on the campuses, prompting some schools to close early and parents to rush to pick up their children.

However, police swiftly responded by conducting thorough searches at all schools mentioned in the threat emails. After extensive sweeps by Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad teams, no explosives were found, leading authorities to declare the threats as hoaxes. Despite the false alarm, investigations are ongoing to identify the sender of the threatening emails.

Additional Commissioner of Police – South, Prem Anand Sinha, assured the public that strict legal action would be taken against the perpetrators once traced, emphasizing the need for immediate reporting of any such threats to the police via toll-free numbers 100 / 112.
