Indian Institute of Foreign Trade to Open Off-Campus Centre at GIFT City

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) will soon open a new off-campus centre at GIFT City in Gujarat. This move aims to support students and professionals in the fields of international trade, finance, and business by offering high-quality education and training close to India’s growing financial hub.

GIFT City (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City) is India’s first smart business district, designed to promote financial services, fintech, and global trade. By setting up a campus there, IIFT plans to provide better access to industry-focused education, especially for those interested in careers in finance, international markets, and global trade management.

Officials from IIFT said that the new centre will offer specialised programs, including postgraduate courses, executive education, and short-term certificate programs. The goal is to prepare students for careers in trade and finance by giving them both academic knowledge and real-world experience.

The new campus will help students take advantage of the unique business environment at GIFT City, which hosts several global banks, financial institutions, and fintech startups. By being close to these companies, students will have better opportunities for internships, industry projects, and placements.

The Indian government is also supporting the expansion of top educational institutions into areas like GIFT City to help create skilled professionals who can meet the demands of a fast-changing global economy. This step aligns with India’s larger goal of becoming a major player in international trade and finance.

IIFT is known for its strong programs in trade and economics, and its new presence in GIFT City will further improve its reach and impact. Students from across the country will now have another high-quality option to pursue advanced education in global trade and finance without having to move to Delhi or Kolkata, where the main campuses are located.

The new off-campus centre is expected to start operations soon, once the infrastructure and academic plans are finalised.
