IPL 2026: Ajinkya Rahane Hints at Changes for KKR After Loss
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane suggested possible changes in their team setup after losing to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 32 runs. The three-time IPL champions were struggling, having lost three of their last four games.
KKR chose to bowl first and managed to restrict CSK to 192/5, thanks to strong performances from Sanju Samson and Dewald Brevis. However, in their chase, KKR struggled and fell short by 32 runs.
Rahane made changes to the batting order, moving himself down to number three and bringing Sunil Narine to open alongside others like Cameron Green being moved lower in the lineup. Despite these adjustments, KKR’s total of 160/7 wasn’t enough.
Reflecting on the match, Rahane acknowledged the need to evaluate their combinations and consider changes if necessary. He emphasized staying positive despite the setbacks.
Finn Allen, who was expected to perform well after his recent success in the Big Bash League and T20 World Cup, has underperformed so far. Meanwhile, Cameron Green’s position in the batting order needs stability. Players like Tim Seifert could be considered for a top spot if Allen struggles.
KKR’s bowling has also been inconsistent, with key players missing or underperforming. They might need to experiment with their bowling lineup against Gujarat Titans in their next match on April 17.
Currently, KKR is at the bottom of the points table with only one point from five games. CSK moved up to eighth place after this win, while Mumbai Indians are ninth.
