Ishan Kishan Out for IND vs NZ 2nd T20I

India will face New Zealand in the second T20 International (T20I) on October 24, 2026, without wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who has been ruled out due to an injury. India currently leads the five-match series 1–0 after winning the opening match at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

The Indian team will aim to continue its winning performance and increase its lead in the series. However, Kishan’s absence could require changes to the team’s batting combination as the players prepare for the second match.

Ishan Kishan Suffers Right Adductor Strain

Ishan Kishan sustained a low-grade right adductor strain during the first T20I against New Zealand. The injury affects the muscles around the inner thigh and groin area, which play an important role in running, changing direction and batting movements.

According to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Kishan will not be available for the second T20I. The team’s medical staff is monitoring his condition and assessing his recovery.

A player’s return after this type of injury depends on the severity of the strain and how well the affected muscles recover. The team will need to monitor Kishan’s fitness before making further decisions about his participation in upcoming matches.

India Looks to Build on First-Match Victory

India made a strong start to the series by chasing a target of 226 runs in the opening T20I at Hagley Oval. The successful chase gave the team a 1–0 lead in the five-match contest.

The Indian batters will look to maintain their attacking approach in the second match. However, New Zealand will be eager to respond after losing the opening game, making the upcoming contest important for both sides.

India’s team management may need to consider its batting options following Kishan’s injury. The selected players will be expected to contribute with both the bat and, where required, behind the stumps.

Christchurch to Host the Second T20I

The second match will take place at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on October 24. Playing at the same venue could help both teams understand the pitch and conditions better after the opening game.

India will look to extend its series lead, while New Zealand will aim to level the contest. With several matches still remaining, the result of the second T20I could play an important role in shaping the series.

For India, the immediate focus will be on maintaining its winning momentum while managing Kishan’s injury and ensuring that the team is ready for the next challenge.
