Jackson Kent Earns First Major League Win
The Washington Nationals ended their losing streak against the Miami Marlins with a convincing 9-2 victory on Friday night in Washington.
Brady House was one of the biggest stars of the game, hitting a huge three-run home run. Pitcher Jackson Kent also played an important role, delivering seven strong innings and earning his first Major League victory.
Nationals Take Control Early
Washington quickly took control of the game in the third inning. Miami starting pitcher Eury Pérez struggled with his control and walked the first three batters he faced in the inning.
The Nationals took advantage of the opportunity. Two runners scored after a wild pitch, giving Washington a 2-1 lead.
House then stepped up and hit a powerful 445-foot home run with two runners on base. The three-run homer gave the Nationals a big advantage and helped them take control of the game.
More Runs in the Seventh Inning
Washington continued to attack in the seventh inning, scoring four more runs.
Harry Ford hit his third home run of the season, increasing the Nationals’ lead to 6-1. Dylan Crews then hit a double to left field that brought two more runners home.
Crews also continued his impressive run at the plate by reaching base for the eighth consecutive game.
Daylen Lile added another run with a triple that went over the center fielder. It was Lile’s sixth triple of the season, showing his ability to create extra-base hits.
Jackson Kent Earns First MLB Win
Pitcher Jackson Kent delivered a strong performance for Washington. He allowed only three hits and four walks during his outing.
Kent threw 106 pitches and earned his first Major League win with a 1-2 record. It was only his fourth Major League appearance.
Kent had also faced Miami in his previous start, making this his second consecutive game against the Marlins.
Marlins Struggle on the Mound
Miami starter Eury Pérez had a difficult night. He lasted only three innings and gave up five earned runs.
The Nationals scored all five of those runs during the third inning. Pérez threw 74 pitches, with 41 coming in the third inning alone.
Miami did manage to score another run through Heriberto Hernández, who hit his fifth home run against Washington in nine games this season.
Nationals End Eight-Game Losing Streak
The victory was especially important for Washington because the Nationals had lost their previous eight games against the Marlins.
Washington had also struggled to score against Miami, producing only 15 runs across their previous seven games. Their nine-run performance on Friday was therefore a major improvement.
The Nationals will look to continue their strong performance in Saturday’s game. Washington is scheduled to start right-hander Cade Cavalli, while Miami will send right-hander Sandy Alcantara to the mound.
The matchup is expected to give both teams another chance to gain momentum as the series continues.
