Jasprit Bumrah: Hailed as the Best Bowler by Australia’s High Commissioner

New Delhi [India], May 2 (ANI): The Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, has praised Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, calling him the best bowler in the world at present.

Speaking to ANI, Green highlighted Bumrah’s unique bowling style, speed, and accuracy, which make him stand out across all formats of cricket. “Jasprit Bumrah is an exceptional bowler right now. His ability to attack the crease from angles that confuse batsmen, combined with his pace and accuracy, is truly impressive,” Green said.

While acknowledging Bumrah as the top individual bowler, Green also recognized the strength of Australia’s pace attack, which includes Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc when all are fit. However, he emphasized that Bumrah is unmatched as a single performer.

Bumrah’s dominance in international cricket continues to grow. Since his debut in 2016, he has taken 504 wickets across 236 matches and 279 innings, with an average of 20.49 and a tight economy rate of 3.72. He ranks eighth among India’s leading wicket-takers.

Bumrah played a crucial role in India’s T20 World Cup victories in 2024 and 2026. In the 2024 edition, he finished as the third-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets, maintaining an average of 8.26 during India’s campaign. In the 2026 tournament, he tied for the highest wicket count with Varun Chakaravarthy, taking 14 wickets at an average of 12.43 in eight matches.

Bumrah’s consistency and ability to perform under pressure have solidified his reputation as one of the most formidable bowlers in global cricket.
