JSMM Chairman Shafi Burfat Highlights Repression in Pakistan

Shafi Burfat, the leader of Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), has raised serious concerns about alleged human rights violations in Pakistan, especially those affecting Sindhi political activists.

Burfat has accused Pakistani authorities of carrying out enforced disappearances, illegal arrests, political repression, torture, and even killings of Sindhi leaders and activists involved in nationalist movements.

In a recent social media statement, Burfat highlighted the case of Roheel Laghari, a senior JSMM central body leader, who was reportedly arrested by Pakistani authorities and has since gone missing.

He also referred to similar cases involving Saddam Shar, another JSMM Central Committee member, along with several other Sindhi leaders who were allegedly forcibly disappeared.

According to Burfat, these incidents are part of a broader pattern of suppressing the Sindhi national movement and restricting political activities at the state level.

He claimed that the Pakistani government is targeting Sindhi activists in an effort to silence demands for political rights and freedom of expression.

Burfat has urged the United Nations, international human rights organizations, and the global community to intervene immediately and address these alleged violations.

He called for international pressure on Pakistan to ensure justice, protect political activists, and uphold basic human rights.

The issue has once again drawn attention to concerns over political freedom, civil rights, and the treatment of minority nationalist movements in Pakistan.
