Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve’s Journey to Shooting Stardom

Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve joined the Indian Army in 2018 with no plans to become a sports star. His goal was simple: secure a stable job to support his family and serve the country. Shooting was never part of his ambitions.

Growing up in a small village in Karnataka, Kedarling came from a farming family. His introduction to shooting was accidental. It began during Army training when he discovered the sport through talent identification programs. Initially, he trained with others but later received his own pistol.

Despite financial challenges, especially since shooting can be costly, Kedarling found support from the Army, NRAI, and SAI. These organizations helped him access competitions and expert guidance. His hard work paid off when he was selected for the Asian Games 2026.

Kedarling’s journey has brought pride to his village. He remains focused on his ultimate goal: winning an Olympic medal at Los Angeles in 2028. He practices meditation to stay calm and believes in following his training without pressure. His family is supportive, though they don’t fully grasp the complexities of international shooting.

Kedarling’s story inspires villagers, with some even encouraging their children to pursue similar paths. Yet, he remains grounded, focusing on executing his strategy and trusting that success will follow.
