Kerala Heatwave Leads to More Snakebites

A recent heatwave in Kerala has led to a rise in snakebite cases, causing concern among residents. Due to the high temperatures, snakes are coming out of their natural habitats in search of cooler places and water, which increases the chances of people encountering them.

In a worrying incident, five venomous snakes were found inside a house in Kuttiady, located in Kozhikode district. This shows how the extreme heat is pushing snakes closer to human living areas.

In the past week, at least six people have died in different parts of Kerala due to snakebites. These incidents highlight the serious risk during the heatwave period. Many victims are often farmers or people who work outdoors, where snakes are more likely to be present.

Authorities have asked people to be very careful. If someone sees a snake, they should stay calm and keep a safe distance. People are advised not to try to catch or harm the snake. Instead, they should contact local wildlife officials for help.

In case of a snakebite, getting medical help immediately is very important. Quick treatment can save lives, while delays can lead to serious health problems or even death.

With the heatwave likely to continue, officials are spreading awareness about safety measures and how to prevent snakebites. They are encouraging people to stay alert, especially in rural areas and places where snakes are commonly found.
