Man Arrested in Odisha for Matrimonial Fraud: Duping Victims with Fake Female Profiles
In Odisha, a man identified as Nrusingha Biswal has been apprehended for allegedly swindling over Rs 3 lakh by creating a fake account on a matrimonial site in his wife’s name. The accused, impersonating a woman named Dipa Pradhan, exploited a gullible victim emotionally, claiming financial distress due to her father’s illness.
The fraudster, a Class 9 dropout, sent pictures portraying an ailing father and a woman with a fractured leg. Upon investigation, it was revealed that Biswal had created the fake profile on his wife’s name. Police have seized cash, ATM cards, and mobile phones from the accused, and an inquiry is underway to determine the extent of fraud through these fabricated IDs on various matrimonial platforms.
