Man Dies After Setting Himself on Fire Outside Trump Trial Courthouse

A man who doused himself in an accelerant and set himself on fire outside the courthouse where former President Donald Trump is on trial has died, according to the New York City Police Department. The incident occurred in Collect Pond Park around 1:30 p.m. Friday, as the jury selection process was being finalized for Trump’s hush-money trial.

Despite efforts by police officers and bystanders to aid the man, he was hospitalized in critical condition and later declared dead. The man, who had travelled from Florida to New York in the last few days, hadn’t breached any security checkpoints to access the park. The incident has prompted authorities to review security protocols around the courthouse, including possible restrictions on park access.
