Panama Names 27-Man Squad for India FIFA Friendly
Panama head coach Thomas Christiansen has announced a 27-member squad for the team’s upcoming FIFA international friendly against India. The match is scheduled to be played on September 25 in Bengaluru as part of Panama’s fixtures during the September-October FIFA international window.
The game against India will be an important opportunity for Panama to test its players during the international break. After the Bengaluru match, Panama will travel to Japan to participate in the Kirin Cup.
Panama are scheduled to face New Zealand on October 1 in Japan. They will then play either Japan or Ecuador on October 5, depending on the result of the other fixture.
Christiansen has included a combination of experienced international players and younger footballers in the squad. Six players have received their first senior national-team call-ups. They are Marcos De León, Jair Model, Joseph Jones, Josué Vergara, Daivis Murillo and Mijahir Jiménez.
Several players who were part of Panama’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad have also been selected. The group includes goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera, defenders César Blackman, Jorge Gutiérrez, Amir Murillo and Andrés Andrade, and forwards José Fajardo and Tomás Rodríguez.
A large part of the squad is made up of players currently competing in Panama’s domestic leagues. The team is expected to travel to Amsterdam on September 19 before continuing its journey to India.
Players based outside Panama will join the national team directly in Bengaluru after completing their club commitments. This arrangement will allow the squad to come together ahead of the friendly against India.
The goalkeeper group consists of Orlando Mosquera, Marcos De León and Eddie Roberts. The defenders selected are César Blackman, Jorge Gutiérrez, Jair Model, Amir Murillo, Omar Valencia, Martín Krug, Andrés Andrade, José Córdoba and Jiovany Ramos.
The midfield includes Carlos Harvey, Adalberto, Cristian Martínez, José Luis Rodríguez, Victor Griffith, Daivis Murillo, Azarías Londoño, Rafael Mosquera and Giovany Herbert.
The forward line features José Fajardo, Josué Vergara, Mijahir Jiménez and Tomás Rodríguez. The inclusion of several new players gives Panama an opportunity to assess additional options for future international matches.
For India, the September 25 fixture will provide a chance to compete against an international opponent with World Cup experience. The match in Bengaluru is expected to attract attention as both teams prepare for their respective upcoming competitions.
