A light plane crash on Lizard Island in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef left ten people injured. The incident occurred as the Cessna 208 operated by Townsville Airlines was returning to the runway on Lizard Island shortly after taking off on a scheduled service to Cairns.
The plane’s engine began to run rough during the climb, prompting the pilot to attempt a return to the island. The crash resulted in serious injuries among the occupants, with debris scattered around the damaged fuselage. All ten individuals on board were transported to Cairns Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition, according to Queensland Health.
