Russia Intensifies Pressure on Ukrainian Forces with Smaller Attacks

As fields dry out in Ukraine, Russian troops are escalating pressure on exhausted Ukrainian forces, preparing for a spring and summer offensive. With the ability to move tanks and heavy equipment, Russia aims to seize more land. Employing satellite-guided gliding bombs, Russian forces are targeting Ukrainian troops facing shortages in manpower and ammunition.

Experts suggest that instead of a massive ground offensive, Russia is opting for smaller attacks to drain the Ukrainian military further. Michael Kofman, a military expert, describes this tactic as “death by a thousand cuts,” warning that such an approach could eventually lead to more open terrain for Russian advances. Despite Ukrainian efforts to fortify defensive lines, slow progress in construction leaves areas vulnerable to Russian attacks, notably in regions like Donetsk.
