Supreme Court Extends Relief to Rahul Gandhi

The Supreme Court on Thursday (December 4, 2025) decided to continue its earlier order
that stopped legal action against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. This stop,
called an interim stay, will now remain in effect until April 22.

The case is connected to remarks Mr. Gandhi allegedly made about the Indian
Army during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in 2022. Some people said the remarks were
insulting, and legal cases were filed against him.

A two-judge Bench of the Supreme Court — Justice M. M. Sundresh and Justice
Satish Chandra Sharma — agreed to accept Mr. Gandhi’s appeal. This means the
court will examine his side of the story in depth.

The judges also said that they will hear the case fully at a later date, giving
time for detailed arguments. Until the case is heard and decided, the earlier
court order stopping the proceedings will continue.
