“Delhi to Host Asian Shooting Olympic Qualifier”
India will host next year’s Asian Rifle and Pistol Championship in New Delhi, and the event will offer eight quota places for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This will be a major moment for Indian shooting, as it will be the first time the country hosts an Asian-level Olympic qualification event of this scale.
The championship will give shooters from across Asia a chance to compete for spots at the Olympics. The eight quota places available at the event will help athletes secure direct entry to the 2028 Games.
In addition to this, Delhi will also host the ISSF World Cup next year. This competition will include Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun events and will offer 12 more Olympic quota places. The World Cup is scheduled to take place from April 21 to 30.
With both the Asian Championship and the World Cup being held in the capital, India will become an important centre for international shooting competitions. These events will not only give Indian shooters the advantage of competing at home but also allow fans to watch top shooters from around the world in action.
Sports officials believe that hosting such major tournaments will boost the growth of shooting in India and encourage young athletes to take up the sport.
