Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Announces Boycott of Governor’s ‘At Home’ Reception

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin declared that the state government will boycott the customary ‘At Home’ reception hosted by Governor R.N. Ravi at Raj Bhavan on Independence Day evening. The decision comes as a result of alleged confusion in higher education and Universities, the Governor’s refusal to give assent to state legislative bills, and his controversial statements.

Stalin accused the Governor of making unkind remarks in public forums, particularly regarding the issue of exempting Tamil Nadu from NEET for medical admissions. He expressed concern for students and parents affected by the ongoing anti-NEET protests and criticized the Governor’s apparent lack of consideration for their welfare.

The Chief Minister intends to write a letter to the President reiterating the request for assent to the NEET exemption Bill. The state government’s boycott of the ‘At Home’ reception is seen as a symbolic gesture of condemning the Governor’s actions.
