Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Flags Off New Police Vehicles

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has officially inaugurated 25 Hyundai Creta, 8 Innova Crysta, and 20 Bolero Jeeps, totaling 53 vehicles at the Secretariat for the Greater Chennai Police’s use. Acquired at a cost of ₹6.5 crore, these vehicles aim to enhance law enforcement capabilities for crime control, traffic regulation, and maintaining public order within the Greater Chennai Police jurisdiction.

Over the past two and a half years, the State government has procured a total of 202 four-wheelers and 81 two-wheelers for the Chennai Police, amounting to ₹59.73 crore. The recent addition aligns with the police budget for 2023-24, which includes the procurement of 283 four-wheelers to replace retired vehicles and enhance operational efficiency in various policing tasks, including VIP route security, law enforcement, and crime prevention.
