Tamil Nadu Farmers to Stage ‘Rail Roko’ Protest Over Cauvery Water

The Tamil Nadu Farmers Association has announced plans to stage a ‘Rail Roko’ agitation on September 19, focusing on the Cauvery water issue. In a meeting held on Wednesday, the association’s office bearers passed a resolution to organize the protest across all Delta districts in the state.

The objective of the protest is to exert pressure on the Central government to engage with Karnataka and secure the release of Cauvery water for Tamil Nadu. The association alleges bias on the part of the Central government towards Karnataka in the Cauvery water issue, which it believes is detrimental to the interests of Tamil Nadu’s farming community.

They argue that political factors are influencing this issue and emphasize the Union Government’s responsibility to implement the directives of the Cauvery Water Management Authority.
