Tax Collector Arrested for Graft in Chennai Corporation

A tax collector from the Greater Chennai Corporation was apprehended by officers of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000.

The collector, identified as Saravanan from zone 13, division 180 in Taramani, allegedly demanded the bribe from a resident, Deepa, in exchange for processing her property tax assessment application. Deepa, refusing to comply, reported the matter to DVAC, leading to Saravanan’s arrest during a trap operation.
