The second airport in Chennai is still in site clearance says the center
Chennai’s second airport, planned as a greenfield project at Parandur in Kancheepuram district, is awaiting site clearance from the Centre, according to Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways, and Civil Aviation, Gen. V.K. Singh (retired).
For DMK MP D.M. Kathir Anand’s question in the Lok Sabha, Gen. Singh stated that the proposal for site clearance had been sent to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and the Ministry of Defence for their comments several months ago.
Once the consultations with stakeholders are complete, the proposal will be submitted to the Steering Committee on Greenfield Airports for its recommendation on awarding the site clearance.
