TN to Run Over 3,400 Special Buses for Wedding Season and Chitra Pournami Festival

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to run more than 3,400 special buses to help people travel during the wedding season and the Chitra Pournami festival. The State Transport Department will operate these buses from May 10 to May 14 to handle the extra number of passengers during this busy time.

Many people travel to their hometowns or visit temples during this season. Weddings and religious events bring large crowds, and normal bus services are not enough to meet the demand. To solve this problem, the government has arranged for extra buses on popular routes, especially from cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, and Salem.

Officials said these special buses will connect major towns and villages so that people can attend family functions, especially weddings, and take part in the Chitra Pournami celebrations. The government has also ordered transport officials to monitor the bus services and make sure they run on time.

Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar stated that the department will also place help desks at major bus terminals to assist passengers with information and ticket bookings. The government will deploy extra staff to manage crowds and ensure passenger safety. Traffic police and transport officers will work together to manage vehicle flow at busy locations.

To avoid high ticket prices, the government has fixed fares for the special buses. It has also advised private bus operators not to overcharge travelers. The Transport Department said it will take strict action against any complaints of unfair pricing.
