Tragedy Strikes Anna Nagar as Drunk Driving Incident Claims Two Lives and Injures Five

In a harrowing incident that unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday, two lives were tragically cut short, and five individuals sustained injuries when a car driven by a visibly Mohammed Asif crashed near a supermarket in Anna Nagar. The victims, identified as college student Vijay Yadav, 21, and 74-year-old security guard Nagasundaram, succumbed to their injuries.

Asif, under the influence of both alcohol and ganja, lost control of the vehicle while driving from Anna Nagar Roundabout to Thirumangalam after attending a Deepavali party. The car collided with the platform and adjacent areas of the supermarket, hitting seven people, damaging three two-wheelers, and stopping only after striking the road median.

Passersby rushed the injured to the Government Medical College Hospital in Kilpauk, where two victims later lost their lives. The Traffic Investigation police in Thirumangalam have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Motor Vehicles Act, underscoring the grave consequences of driving under the influence.
