U.S. Denies Russian Allegations of Interference in Indian Elections

The United States has categorically dismissed Russian allegations of interfering in the ongoing Indian elections. State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that the U.S. does not involve itself in elections anywhere in the world, including India, emphasizing that electoral decisions are for the people of India to make.

Miller’s response came after Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused the U.S. of trying to unbalance India’s internal political situation to complicate the parliamentary elections. Zakharova described the U.S. allegations as reflecting a colonial mentality and a misunderstanding of India’s national mentality and historical context.
