Vietnamese Buddhist Monks Start Weeklong Peace Walk in Sri Lanka
A group of seven Buddhist monks from Vietnam started a special journey in Sri Lanka on March 21. They came together for a week-long event called the “Walk for Peace.” This journey is meant to spread messages of peace, kindness, and unity among people.
The group is led by Venerable Pannakara Thero, a respected Buddhist monk. They were invited to Sri Lanka to take part in this event, which is supported by the government. The program is open to the public, and many people from different countries are also showing interest in it. The event will continue until April 28.
During their journey, the monks walk together through different places, meeting people and sharing simple messages about living peacefully and respecting each other. Their walk is not just a physical journey, but also a spiritual one.
Adding a special touch to the group is Aloka, a rescue dog who has joined the monks on earlier walks as well. The dog travels with them and has become a friendly and familiar part of their team.
The “Walk for Peace” is meant to bring people together. Through this peaceful walk across Sri Lanka, the monks hope to encourage harmony, understanding, and compassion among different communities.
