Virat Kohli on His Future in Cricket
Virat Kohli, India’s legendary batter, shared his thoughts on his future in international cricket and his plans for the 2027 ODI World Cup. He emphasized that if he feels valued and can contribute positively to the team environment, he is willing to play. However, if he is made to feel like he needs to prove his worth, that “space is not meant for him.”
Kohli, currently ranked third in the Orange Cap with 484 runs in 12 innings, is focusing solely on ODIs after retiring from T20Is and Tests due to a lack of consistent performance. Despite being one of the greatest ODI batters, his limited international appearances have sparked debates about his place in the upcoming World Cup.
Kohli explained that he approaches cricket with dedication and passion, preparing as if every match could be his last. He expressed frustration over environments where his value is questioned, stating, “I work hard, play the game in the right way, and always give my best.”
Recently returning to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after two decades, Kohli scored 208 runs, including a century and a fifty. He highlighted that he plays for the love of the sport, not to prove anything to others.
Reflecting on his mindset, Kohli compared cricket to a job, where consistency and trust are crucial. He stressed the importance of clear communication from teams regarding player expectations.

After the IPL, Kohli will rejoin the Indian team for home matches against Afghanistan starting June 14.
