Y.S. Sharmila Denounces Brother Jagan’s Leadership

In a scathing attack on her brother, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Y.S. Sharmila, the president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), accused him of orchestrating a campaign to tarnish her character and that of her husband. Speaking at the Congress party’s inaugural election meeting, Sharmila lamented Jagan’s ingratitude despite her unwavering support, highlighting her extensive contributions to his political endeavors, including a 3,200-km padayatra and vigorous campaigning against the Telugu Desam Party.

She accused Jagan of resorting to forceful detention and physical harm during her protests in Vijayawada. Criticizing his alignment with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sharmila underscored their father’s opposition to the BJP’s communal politics, labeling Jagan’s allegiance as shameful. She lambasted Jagan’s governance failures, citing the unfulfilled promises regarding special category status (SCS), Polavaram project funds, and alcohol prohibition. Additionally, Sharmila condemned the YSRCP government’s neglect of farmers’ welfare and its complicity in exacerbating liquor-related health issues in the state.

She emphasized the need for accountability from both Jagan and opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu on critical state issues while expressing commitment to the implementation of poverty eradication initiatives outlined by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
