YS Sharmila Seeks Increased Security and Escort Vehicle, Raises Concerns Over Safety

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y. S. Sharmila has written to the Director General of Police (DGP) seeking an increase in her security from the existing 1+1 to 4+4 and the provision of a police escort vehicle. The letter comes amid concerns over her safety during her State-wide tour to address party workers, with the security cover having been reduced from 4+4 to 1+1.

Congress leaders, including AICC in-charge Manickam Tagore and CWC member N. Raghuveera Reddy, have expressed apprehension about her security and urged Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to direct the police department to address the issue. Responding to concerns, the State Police stated that they would review Sharmila’s security cover based on the recommendations of the Security Review Committee.
