Rouble Nagi Wins $1 Million Global Teacher Prize
Indian educator and activist Rouble Nagi has won the prestigious GEMS Education Global Teacher Prize 2026, a $1 million award. The prize is run by the Varkey Foundation in collaboration with UNESCO and recognises outstanding teachers who make a global impact.
The award was presented at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, an event that brings together leaders and policymakers from around the world.
Rouble Nagi has spent more than 20 years improving education in India. Through her Rouble Nagi Art Foundation (RNAF), she has set up over 800 learning centres in more than 100 underserved communities, giving children access to quality education and creative opportunities.
This award highlights Nagi’s dedication to empowering children through education and art. Her work has helped thousands of students in India, particularly in areas where access to education was limited.
