Crafts Bazaar an annual fair organized by CCI for the past ten years, to salute the efforts of the artisan community by providing a marketing base to showcase their products developed through the years is in the city. The 10-day exhibition was recently inaugurated by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala at the Valluvar Kottam.

Crafts Bazaars is wholly an expression of the craftsperson and an opportunity to uplift the artisans. Says Mr. Barnala, “The hand made products take the importance of aesthetic value of crafts to the younger generation”.
A joint programme with the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, The bazaar during this festive season brings to you a never before range of jewellery, in a variety of mediums, like semi-precious stone, silver, thread, glass beads, coconut shell, lac bangles, jute, pearls, wood and terracotta. Browse through the stalls and you will find embroidery as in Kantha Sujni, chikan work and Phulkari used ingeniously on hand.crafted fabric. This apart the bazaar displays lacquerware, bronzes, dhurries, bamboo and cane products, jute articles, kauna crafts, black pottery, woven tribal textiles from Korapad, leather puppets, paintings, bhoota articles, handmade paper products, kalchutties, horn craft cutlery, dhokra, mats, ceramics, mojaris, terracotta, bell metal and metalware in a mind-boggling variety. Toys of various media are a highlight for the festive season.
The textiles range covers handloom saris like Puunjabi Phulkari, Paithani, Kalamkari, Kancheepuram and Tangails from West Bengal. A range of stone and wooden products will also be on sale.
The traditional, tribal designs have been linked to the contemporary trends and made suitable to the Gen-Next. The Kashmiri bhandini duppattas with multiple colors and intricately designed patterns stands testimony to the artistic skills of Indian artisans.
