Google denies using Gmail for AI training

Google has cleared up reports about Gmail and AI. Some news said Gmail was using users’ emails and attachments to train its Gemini AI, and that people could only opt out by turning off Gmail “smart features” like spell check or order tracking.

Google said this is wrong. Spokesperson Jenny Thomson told The Verge, “These reports are false. No one’s settings have been changed.”Gmail Smart Features have existed for many years, and we do not use your Gmail content to train our Gemini AI model.”
