CM Stalin Inaugurates Restored Victoria Public Hall
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday opened the newly restored
Victoria Public Hall. The hall is located between Chennai Central
Railway Station and the Ripon Buildings, making it a central landmark in the city.
The restoration work started in 2023 as part of the Singara Chennai
2.0 initiative. The project had a budget of ₹32.62 crore and aimed to
bring back the historic charm of the hall while making it safer and more
modern for public use.
The Victoria Public Hall is an important heritage building in Chennai.
It has been used for many years for public meetings, cultural events,
and social gatherings. The restoration included repairing the walls,
floors, and roof, as well as upgrading electrical systems, lighting,
and seating arrangements.
Officials said the restored hall will now host cultural programs,
exhibitions, and other public events, giving people a chance to enjoy
the historic space in a modern setting. The project is seen as part
of a larger effort to preserve Chennai’s heritage while improving city
infrastructure.
