India, US Seek Balanced Trade and Space Ties

India is continuing regular talks with the United States to reach a fair and balanced trade agreement as soon as possible, India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, said. He said India is staying in close contact with the United States Trade Representative on issues related to trade and tariffs, with the aim of finding a solution that benefits both countries.

Kwatra said the direction of India-US relations was set during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US in early February this year, when he held bilateral talks with US President Donald Trump. During the visit, both countries agreed on a strong outcome document covering many areas, including space cooperation.

He described India’s successful launch of a communication satellite yesterday as an important moment for the partnership between India and the US. He said it marked another major achievement in space cooperation between the two countries in 2025.

Kwatra also mentioned the Axiom-4 mission, which carried Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla to the International Space Station. This was India’s first human spaceflight mission to the ISS. He further noted the ISRO-NASA NISAR mission, which focuses on advanced Earth observation, and said it has now been successfully launched and is fully operational.
