PV Sindhu Shines Against China at Worlds
Based on her form and results earlier this year, it did not seem likely that PV Sindhu would win a sixth medal at the World Championships. Before the tournament began in Paris, at the same venue that hosted last year’s Olympic Games, expectations were low. But Sindhu once again proved why she is special and made the dream seem possible.
She faced China’s Wang Zhi Yi, the world’s second-ranked player in 2025, behind only An Seyoung. However, Sindhu dominated the match, just as she has done against many top Chinese players in the past.
Throughout her career, Sindhu has often raised her level at big tournaments, especially at the World Championships. Against Wang, she played with great confidence and control, winning the round-of-16 match in straight games.
Her powerful performance reminded Indian badminton fans of 2019, when Sindhu was at her very best and ruled the world stage with her aggressive and fearless play.
