Palaniswami Claims DMK Closed 210 Schools

Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the AIADMK general secretary and Leader of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, accused the DMK government on Monday of closing 210 government schools over the past four and a half years.

He compared this with the work done by the previous AIADMK government, saying that his administration had opened 248 new primary schools. In addition, 117 primary schools were upgraded to middle schools, 1,079 middle schools were converted into high schools, and 604 high schools were upgraded to higher secondary schools.

Mr. Palaniswami made these remarks while speaking to a group of people near a bus terminus on the Tiruvallur-Uthukottai road in Tiruvallur district. He criticized the DMK for allegedly neglecting school infrastructure and education, and emphasized the AIADMK’s previous efforts to expand access to education across the state.
