Telangana’s Ambitious Budget

The government of Telangana has presented the Telangana Socio-Economic Outlook 2026 along with its state budget, showing big plans for the future. The report lays out a vision to make Telangana a $3 trillion economy by 2047, create a net-zero city around Hyderabad’s outer ring road, and become a global leader in sectors like fintech and healthcare for senior citizens. The outlook is ambitious and hopeful, aiming for growth and innovation across the state.

The 2026-27 budget, introduced on March 20, supports these goals with strong financial plans. Spending on infrastructure has been increased significantly, with capital expenditure up by 29%. The state is also aiming for a 10.7% economic growth rate, which is higher than the national average of 8%.

Several key projects have been announced to support this vision:

Development of the Musi Riverfront to improve the city’s environment and public spaces.
Construction of Bharat Future City, a modern urban development near Hyderabad.
Establishment of seventeen new medical schools to improve healthcare and medical education.
Expansion of the Hyderabad Metro system to enhance public transportation.

The Finance Minister highlighted that Telangana is moving forward with confidence and determination, focusing on innovation, infrastructure, and social development. With these plans, the state aims to become a modern, sustainable, and globally competitive economy in the coming decades.
