IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals Manager Faces Fine and Warning
Romi Bhinder, the manager of Rajasthan Royals (RR), has been given a fine and warned after using his mobile phone in the dugout during the team’s match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) last week. According to reports from The Times of India, the BCCI Anti-Corruption Security Unit (ACSU) investigated Bhinder’s actions following a show-cause notice.
The investigation concluded that Bhinder had a valid reason for using his phone due to his health condition. He was allowed to use his phone in the dugout because of this medical necessity. A BCCI official stated, “Bhinder received a fine and warning, but no further action was taken as he explained his situation convincingly.”
The ACSU had earlier issued a notice to Bhinder after noticing him using his phone during the match. He responded within 48 hours, submitting his medical records to support his explanation. The investigation did not involve Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a young team member sitting next to Bhinder, as he was not discussed in the case.
IPL rules prohibit the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices in the Players and Match Officials Area (PMA), except for specific team members. While the manager is allowed to use a phone in the dressing room, it is strictly banned in the dugout. Bhinder’s actions violated these protocols, but his medical explanation was accepted.
Currently, Rajasthan Royals are third in the IPL standings with eight points from five matches, having lost only one game so far. The team, led by Riyan Parag, will next play against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Sunday.
