Riyan Parag Smoking Scandal: Referee in Trouble

Mumbai (Maharashtra), April 30 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering punishing the match referee for allowing a banned substance to enter the dressing room unchecked. This happened after Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag was caught smoking on an electronic cigarette during his team’s Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

According to BCCI sources, there are no rules in place to punish players for smoking during matches. However, the referee could face consequences for failing to prevent banned substances from entering the dressing room.

Despite Riyan’s personal struggles with his batting form—he has scored only 117 runs in nine matches—RR is performing well as a team. They currently hold fourth place in the IPL standings with 12 points, having won six and lost three matches.

The team’s success can be attributed to their strong opening pair of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, as well as their potent bowling attack featuring Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger. Donovan Ferreira has also contributed significantly with his batting performances.

Rajasthan Royals will face Delhi Capitals (DC) in an upcoming home match on Friday. (ANI)
