Babar Azam Returns to ICC Test Top 10

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is back in the top 10 of the ICC Test rankings after performing well against the West Indies. He scored a total of 193 runs across four innings, including two half-centuries. In the first Test in Trinidad, he made 23 runs and then 58 runs. In the second Test in Port of Spain, he scored 88 runs and remained not out with 24 runs.

This is Babar’s first time in the top 10 since September 2024. He currently has 716 rating points. However, he hasn’t hit a century in Tests since December 2022 when he scored 161 against New Zealand.

Pakistan will next play England in a three-match Test series starting on August 19. Meanwhile, India’s Rishabh Pant dropped one spot to 14th with 705 points. Shubman Gill stayed at seventh with 743 points, and Yashasvii Jaiswal remained ninth with 733 points.

Australia’s Travis Head leads the rankings with 853 points, followed by England’s Harry Brook with 852 points. India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to top the bowlers’ list with 870 points but will miss upcoming matches due to injury. Ravindra Jadeja is first in all-rounders with 446 points, while Axar Patel moved up to 11th with 198 points.

India will face Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series in August as part of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle. With the WTC final approaching, more changes in rankings are expected.
