India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable Begins Today

The fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) is taking place today in Singapore. Leading Indian officials attending include Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Jitin Prasada, the Minister of State for Commerce, Industry, Electronics, and IT.

ISMR serves as a key platform to strengthen cooperation between India and Singapore, particularly in new and emerging areas. The first meeting was held in New Delhi in September 2022, followed by meetings in Singapore in August 2024 and New Delhi in August 2025. Discussions on topics like advanced manufacturing, digitalization, healthcare, sustainability, and skills development have shaped the roadmap for India-Singapore’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), unveiled during Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong’s visit to India last September.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that this fourth round will allow both nations to review progress on ongoing initiatives and explore ways to deepen collaboration. Additionally, a business roundtable with key Indian and Singaporean business leaders will take place alongside ISMR.

On his arrival in Singapore yesterday, Dr. Jaishankar met his counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, for talks on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The two ministers also laid the foundation stone for a new chancery complex of India’s High Commission in Singapore. Dr. Jaishankar expressed confidence that this facility will reflect the growing partnership and better serve the Indian community in Singapore.
