Shane Watson Finds India His Second Home
Sydney, Australia – Shane Watson, a former Australian all-rounder, recently shared his strong bond with India while speaking at an Independence Day event organized by the Indian Consulate in Sydney. He described India as his “second home,” feeling more welcomed and supported there than in Australia.
Watson, who played for IPL teams like Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Chennai Super Kings, has spent significant time in India during his cricket career. He currently serves as an assistant coach for Kolkata Knight Riders. During his visit to India as a teenager, he was impressed by the country’s rapid development.
He highlighted how Indian fans’ support has positively impacted his life and career. Comparing the fan reactions in India and Australia, Watson noted that while Australian fans can be judgmental, Indian fans are more appreciative. He especially enjoys India’s diverse vegetarian cuisine, which he finds flavorful compared to bland options in Australia.
Watson expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has had to connect with India and its people, calling it a truly special experience.
