Chiefs Beat Dolphins with Walker’s Two TDs
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Kansas City Chiefs remained unbeaten with a 24-10 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns, while Kenneth Walker III scored twice to help Kansas City improve to 3-0.
The Chiefs entered the game averaging more than 450 yards and 32 points per game. However, Miami’s defense made the game more difficult than expected and kept Kansas City from building a big lead for much of the contest.
Mahomes completed 20 of 24 passes and delivered two important touchdown throws. He connected with Walker for a 5-yard touchdown and later found Travis Kelce for an 11-yard score.
Kelce’s touchdown came late in the fourth quarter and gave Kansas City a two-score advantage. The Chiefs had stopped Miami on fourth down before Mahomes and the offense turned the opportunity into points.
Rashee Rice was Mahomes’ leading receiver, finishing with seven catches for 88 yards. Walker also contributed on the ground, rushing for 70 yards on 18 carries. It was his first game this season without reaching 100 rushing yards.
Miami had a chance to make the game competitive in the third quarter. The Dolphins cut the Chiefs’ lead to 14-10 after Greg Dulcich made a 42-yard catch and Riley Patterson converted a 37-yard field goal.
However, Miami struggled to maintain its offensive momentum. Malik Willis threw an interception and also lost a fumble, giving the Chiefs additional opportunities to control the game.
The Dolphins were already dealing with the absence of Pro Bowl running back De’Von Achane, who left early because of a knee injury. With Achane unavailable, Miami relied heavily on Ollie Gordon, who carried the ball nine times for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Gordon also left late in the third quarter because of cramping but later returned to the game. Despite his efforts, Miami could not produce enough offense to complete a comeback.
Kansas City started strongly, scoring touchdowns on its first two possessions. Miami’s young defense then responded by forcing a turnover on downs and getting an interception from rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez before halftime.
The defeat dropped the Dolphins to 0-3, leaving them still searching for their first win of the season. Miami will next host the Minnesota Vikings, while the Chiefs will travel to Las Vegas for their next game.
For Kansas City, the victory extended its perfect start to the season and kept the Chiefs among the league’s unbeaten teams after three games.
