Man Murdered by Unknown Attackers in Triplicane

A 28-year-old man, identified as Ajith, was killed in a knife attack in Chennai’s Triplicane area on Monday night, September 28, 2026. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the suspects.

According to the initial investigation, two women approached Ajith and asked him to step outside his house for a conversation. Ajith, who lived on Venkatarangam Pillai Street and worked as a mobile technician, reportedly went outside with them.

While he was speaking with the women, two men allegedly approached him and pulled him away before attacking him with knives. Ajith suffered serious injuries to his head and face during the attack.

His parents reportedly came outside after hearing the commotion and attempted to intervene. The attackers allegedly threatened them. Ajith’s mother, Sarasammal, sustained an injury to her hand while trying to protect her son.

Police reached the location after receiving information about the incident. Ajith was taken to Government Royapettah Hospital, where his body was sent for a post-mortem examination. Sarasammal was taken to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for treatment.

Police have registered a murder case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack. Investigators are also examining whether the killing was linked to an earlier dispute involving Ajith.

CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined as part of the investigation. The suspects have not yet been identified. Police said the four people involved, including the two women, fled the area on motorcycles after the attack.
