Nepal Condemns Drone Incident in Saudi Oil Field

Nepal has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a Nepali citizen in a drone-related incident at Saudi Arabia’s Shaybah oil field. The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned attacks that harm civilians and damage important infrastructure. Nepal has also called on all sides to resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy.

The incident took place on Wednesday at the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. According to the information provided, Saudi air defence systems shot down a drone, and pieces of the destroyed drone fell near a facility at the oil field. The facility is operated by Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company.

The falling debris reportedly caused a fatal incident involving a Nepali citizen. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of civilian workers, particularly foreign nationals working at important industrial facilities in the region.

Following the incident, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement expressing its condolences to the family of the deceased. The government shared its sympathy with the grieving family during this difficult time. Nepal also wished those injured in the incident a speedy recovery.

Nepal strongly stated that civilians should not become victims of conflicts or security-related incidents. It also stressed that critical infrastructure, including oil facilities, must be protected from attacks and other threats. Such facilities play an important role in energy production and the wider economy, making their safety a major concern.

The incident also highlights the risks faced by migrant workers employed in different parts of the world. Many Nepali citizens work in Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, to support their families back home. Incidents involving drones, military activity, or damage to industrial facilities can put these workers at risk.

Nepal has urged the parties involved in regional disputes to avoid actions that could endanger innocent people. It has emphasised that dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful negotiations are necessary to reduce tensions and prevent further loss of life.

The government’s statement reflects its concern for the safety of Nepali citizens living and working abroad. Nepal is expected to continue monitoring the situation and addressing the concerns arising from the incident.

The death at the Shaybah oil field is a reminder of the importance of protecting civilians during security crises. Nepal has called for peaceful solutions and stronger efforts to ensure that innocent people are not harmed by conflicts or related incidents.
