Cyclone Arnab Hits North Andhra Pradesh, Uproots Power Poles

Cyclone Arnab caused widespread damage across northern Andhra Pradesh and the Godavari districts on October 28. Strong winds and heavy rainfall affected several areas, leading to flooding, damage to infrastructure and disruption to normal life.

Low-lying areas experienced flooding as rainwater accumulated on roads and residential streets. Strong winds uprooted trees and electric poles, creating difficulties for commuters and affecting transport services. Fallen trees and damaged roads also disrupted traffic in several locations.

Agricultural land was among the areas affected by the cyclone. Heavy rainfall and strong winds damaged farmland, raising concerns among farmers about possible crop losses and the impact on their livelihoods.

Konaseema district was among the affected areas. According to the District Collector, around 6,000 electric poles were damaged or destroyed, creating major challenges for the power supply network. The damage is expected to require extensive repair work to restore electricity to affected areas.

The cyclone has highlighted the need for quick restoration of essential services and continued monitoring of vulnerable locations. Authorities will need to assess the full extent of the damage and coordinate repair work to restore electricity, clear roads and support affected communities.

Residents in affected areas are advised to follow official weather updates and safety instructions while restoration work continues.
