Iran President Warns Against Returning to War

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on November 3 that restarting a war would not benefit any country. His statement came after reports of US airstrikes on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important waterway in the Middle East.

At the same time, voters in the United States were preparing to cast their votes in the midterm elections. The elections could affect President Donald Trump’s political position and control.

Iran’s top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said the country was “ready for battle.” However, President Pezeshkian stressed the importance of resolving problems through dialogue. He also said Iran’s Supreme Leader had given the government new authority to discuss issues that were previously not allowed in negotiations.

The reported airstrikes targeted Qeshm Island, which has become an important point of tension in the Middle East. US officials described the attacks as defensive, although there was no official confirmation of the strikes. The conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran has continued since late February, with little progress toward a resolution.

Qatar, which is helping mediate indirect talks between the United States and Iran, expressed hope that both sides could reach a temporary agreement. A Qatari spokesperson said both countries were reviewing proposals. Iranian officials also suggested that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen within two days if US demands were met.

Despite the continuing tensions, President Trump remained hopeful about reaching an agreement. He said progress had been made in discussions but warned Iran of possible consequences, including military action.

As negotiations continue and tensions remain high, the situation in the Middle East could have major consequences for regional stability.
