Aaryavir Sehwag Shines in Asia Cup Debut
Aaryavir Sehwag, son of former Indian cricket opener Virender Sehwag, made an impressive start to his U19 Asia Cup campaign by scoring a half-century. His strong performance helped India U19 secure a comfortable 10-wicket victory over Nepal U19 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman.
Aaryavir had shown promising form during the practice matches, including a game against Australia. He continued his good performance against Nepal and played confidently during the run chase. His maiden fifty in the tournament gave India a strong start and helped the team move closer to victory.
India were chasing a target of 129 runs after Nepal struggled to build a strong total. The Indian opening batters took control of the match from the beginning and made the chase look easy. Aaryavir was joined by captain Lakshya Rajesh Raichandani, who also scored a half-century.
Both batters played steady innings and avoided unnecessary risks. Their partnership helped India reach the target without losing a wicket. Nepal’s bowlers were unable to create pressure or break the opening partnership.
India completed the chase with 30 overs remaining, highlighting their dominance throughout the match. Aaryavir’s confident batting and the captain’s support played an important role in the victory.
The win gave India U19 a strong start to the tournament. Aaryavir’s performance also attracted attention as he continued to follow in the footsteps of his father, Virender Sehwag, known for his aggressive batting style.
