Allegations of Illegal Liquor Businesses Taint Andhra Pradesh Politics

Former MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, along with State BJP chief spokesperson Lanka Dinakar and JSP’s Gade Venkateswara Rao, accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of benefiting from illegal liquor and drug businesses, despite his promise of imposing total prohibition. Rao claimed that the state has become a hub for cheap liquor and drugs, leading to health issues among its residents.

He alleged that cash was being distributed to voters, implicating the ruling YSRCP government in unethical practices. Dinakar added that the liquor mafia earned significant profits over the past five years, with cash-only transactions at liquor shops raising further suspicions. Venkateswara Rao demanded transparency from the government, urging for the release of a White Paper on liquor sales to expose any wrongdoing.
