Chandrababu Naidu Criticizes Internet Ban During Amalapuram Riots

Chandrababu Naidu, the national president of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), criticized the YSRCP government’s decision to impose an internet ban during the Amalapuram riots in 2022, likening it to the restrictions once faced in Jammu & Kashmir. He alleged that the proposal to rename the district after B.R. Ambedkar, initiated by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, had sparked tension across Konaseema, leading to the riots.

Naidu promised to uplift Dalits and assured the offer of an MLC post to a leader from the Madiga sect. Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan, president of the Jana Sena Party (JSP), accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of turning the serene Konaseema area into a “land of riots” through his actions. Both leaders pledged to work towards harmony and peace in the region, criticizing the neglect of the coconut trade and promising to prioritize the Konaseema railway line project, honoring the legacy of former Lok Sabha Speaker G.M.C. Balayogi.
